Fernando Asuncion Lagua, 76, of Wake Forest passed away surrounded by family on December 17, 2012 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Fernando was born in Manila, Philippines to Olimpio and Pilar Lagua. He earned a B.A. in economics and political science and an M.B.A. in organization from the University of the Philippines and another M.B.A. in management from Syracuse University.
He married in 1963, immigrated to the United States with his wife and three young daughters in 1969, and eventually settle in Syracuse, N.Y.. Fernando and his family became U.S. citizens in 1974. He worked in economic development and moved to Wake Forest upon retirement. Fernando was an avid gardener, world traveler, and lover of the arts.
He is survived by his spouse of nearly 50 years, Rosalinda Lagua; daughter Dr. Selina James and husband John James of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter Carina Lagua and husband Patick Craner of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter Belinda Brady and husband Dennis Brady of Richmond, V.A.; sister Lourdes Lagua of Los Angeles, C.A.; and sister Dolores Cuvinar of Los Angeles, C.A.. His is also survived by beloved grandchildren Laura James, John James, Mia Craner and Parks Brady.
Memorial mass will be on January 11, 2013 at 3:00 pm, Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, N.C.. Family will receive friends following the service.
