Flora Amos Obituary

Fuquay-Varina
Flora Azalee Howard Amos, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2014. She was the daughter of Wingate and Mabel Flynn Howard.
Flora was a lifelong resident of Fuquay-Varina, NC. She was very proud to have been born in Varina, NC. She cherished her childhood memories of visiting with family and friends on her parent's front porch on Ennis Street.
Flora's adventures and travels always proved to be most interesting to family and friends. She was never at a loss for speaking her own mind. Flora loved to visit "her" Biscuitville each morning. She also loved hot dogs, donuts and popcorn. Flora was very patriotic and was an active member of the local American Legion for many years. She was one of the last members to sell poppies in honor of the WWI Veterans. Flora saw this as a way to honor her father's and husband's military service.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Angier. Burial will follow at Wake Chapel Christian Church Cemetery in Fuquay-Varina. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00 pm Friday, January 24th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Amos Woolard and husband, Dale of Raleigh; sister, Amaryllis Howard McGhee of Raleigh; grandson, Samuel James Woolard and wife, Caitie of Erie, PA and a great-granddaughter, Azalee Woolard.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Samuel Reynolds Amos.
The family would like to thank the many home health care providers, the Community Hospice Staff, and the staff at Oak Hill Living Center for their loving care of "Miss Flora".
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your local hospice.

I knew Mrs. Amos for almost 40 years, so she was like a part of my family and will be missed. She was definitely one of a kind. Amy and I would often see her at "her" Biscuitville and enjoyed having breakfast with her and being entertained by one of her stories. We always liked having her over for Thanksgiving and she seemed to enjoy it as well. Condolences to Gail, Dale,Samuel, Caitie and Azalee.
