Raleigh, North Carolina - Florence, 'Flo' Lamphier, 82, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2021, at Rex Hospital of Raleigh with her children, Barbara and Bob, by her side.
Flo was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charles and Mae Sanders. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 58 years, Bob Lamphier Sr.
Flo grew up in the Franklin, Indiana where she and Bob were high school sweethearts. They married in the summer of '57 and set up housekeeping in Franklin.
Moving to Raleigh, she began a 39-career with the State of North Carolina, initially within the Department of Agriculture. Upon retirement, Flo was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
Active in community service, Flo loved volunteering in many roles within the Wilders-Grove Exchange Club, Girl Scouts, Child Abuse Prevention, Starmount Garden Club and PTA.
Flo is survived by her daughter Barbara (Jerry) Kingrey of Raleigh, Bob Jr. (Amy) Lamphier of Cary, grandsons Bryan (Anna and beautiful baby Penelope) Kingrey, Charleston, SC, Aaron Kingrey, Davidson, NC, Dylan Lamphier, Cary, NC, her sister Phyllis. (CA)
We are ever grateful for the excellent care provided by the team at Sunrise Assisted Living - North Hills. We're especially appreciative for Terry, lovingly called 'The Boss Lady' for all her support to Mom and our Family.
Most importantly, words cannot express how much love Mom had for her many friends and colleagues. Your support to Mom and Dad for so many years cannot be measured, and cannot be repaid. You are angels carrying her forward.
A Memorial service and celebration of Flo's life will be held Monday, September 27th at 11:00 – 1:00 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC.
