Frederick Louis Macomber

Raleigh

Fred Macomber passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean and his son, Jeffrey. He is preceded in death by his son, Gary and survived by Gary's wife Martha and two grandchildren Sarah and Evans.

He grew up in Massachusetts. Fred served in the United States Army in the Army of Occupation following World War II. Honorably discharged from military service, he went to an accounting college. After a couple of jobs, he wound up at IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York. Spending a decade there, he transferred to the Raleigh-Triangle Park facility and remained there until retirement.

He was an active member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church and Meals on Wheels.

A memorial service to honor Fred's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609, or Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 (formerly, Hospice of Wake County).
