Raleigh, North Carolina - Godofredo Ng, MD, age 85, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at UNC Rex Hospital on April 17, 2023.
Godofredo ("Fred") was a prominent general surgeon in Raleigh NC and the founding partner of Wake Surgical Center. Fred was a dedicated physician, husband and father, and was active in his community and church. Fred's leadership and work with the Carolina Medical Mission, which he co-founded in 1995, exemplified Fred's commitment to service and selfless generosity.
Fred Ng leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Anita; Children: Cheryl Ng O'Malley (Donald O'Malley); Peter Ng (Kyong Lee); David Ng (Eden Jover); Cindy Ng; and Joseph Ng (Onelia Jose); and Grandchildren: Cara O'Malley, Ryan O'Malley; Olivia Ng, Matthew Ng; Gabriel Ng, Erin Ng, Simon Ng; & Hailey Ng.

Only today have I learned Dr.Ng passed away last year. This world has lost a brilliant surgeon and wonderful friend. Go rest high on the mountain for your work here is done but not forgotten. Thank you always for all you taught me about life and medicine. You were so willing to give. You will be missed by family and friends and all the patients you gave all to. We loved you.

I WAS IN SCHOOL FOR SURGICAL TECH AND DR NG WAS MY FAVORITE SURGEON TO WORK WITH. HE WAS SO PATIENT WITH ME AND WAS CONSTANTLY TEACHING ME .LATER I HAD MARRIED AND HAD AN EMERGENCY SITUATION THAT REQUIRED SURGERY. I REQUESTED DR NG AND HE WAS THERE!! TOLD ME LATER THAT I COULD HAVE DIED BUT I GOT THERE IN TIME, THEN WHEN MY FIRST BABY WAS BORN, AT 2 MONTHS HE HAD TO HAVE SURGERY ON HIS CRANIUM I WAS STANDING BY HIS LITTLE BED, SCARED, TIRED AND IN WALKED DR NG WITH HIS NURSE. HE ASKED WHY I WAS THERE. I SHOWED HIM MY BABY, DR NG LOOKED AT HIS CHART, EXAMINED MY SON THEN PICKED HIM UP HELD HIM AND THEN HANDED HIM TO ME, SMILING AND SAYING HE WILL BE OK. HE HAD SO MUCH COMPASSION FOR OUR FAMILY, AND OTHER PATIENTS .I THANK GOD FOR DR NG .... AND GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY DURING THESES DAYS TO COME. ALWAYS ,FRANCES & DAVID TURNER, RALEIGH, NC
