Harriette Lineberger Steele passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the age of 83. She was born on July 29, 1932 in Charlotte, NC, to the late Archibald Caleb Lineberger and Lillian Nunn Evans of Belmont. She was predeceased by her husband, William Little Steele, III, and sister, Mary Louise Lineberger Roberts of Atlanta. Survivors include her sons; William Little Steele IV and wife, Donna, of Charlotte, John Caleb Steele of Morehead City, and Patrick Linehan Steele of Nantucket, MA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kathryn Lineberger Steele of Atlanta and Harrison Linehan Steele of Raleigh; sisters, Lillian Lineberger McKay (Dee Dee), of Charlotte, Jane Lineberger Huffard of Atlanta, and brother, Archibald Caleb Lineberger, III of Belmont, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Steele was raised in Belmont, and graduated from Chatham Hall and Sweetbriar College. She was a member of the Charlotte Debutante Club, NC Colonial Dames, Junior League of Charlotte and Merri-Mint Garden Club. Her interests were family, friends, church, gardening, cooking and travel. She treasured her family most, which brought her great joy and happiness. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and delightful smile. The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Kirk, Summit Place, and Hospice House at Southminister for their special care and kindnesses. A service to celebrate her life will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, followed by a reception at the church.
