Richboro, Pennsylvania - Capt. Henry M. Flynn Jr., (USNR, Ret.) died March 14, 2024 in Richboro, PA at the age of 88.

Born in Maine and raised in Sharon, MA, Hank attended his beloved University of Virginia graduating from their School of Architecture with the help of ROTC. After giving the Navy 5 years of active duty, he married his wife of 53 years, Katherine Harrell Flynn and settled in her hometown of Goldsboro, NC where he was a partner at Griffin Flynn Architects and later the principal of own practice. He designed many homes & projects in and around Goldsboro including his own Walnut Creek home, the renovation of St. Paul UMC and North Drive School, the project he has said he is most proud of designing.

In the early 80's Hank and his family moved to Southampton, NY where he built his own practice on Main St. which became Flynn Stott Architects and designed many local homes and municipal projects including the Southampton Police Station. He was an active participant in Rotary Club, an organization he loved, becoming President of the Southampton Rotary Club for a time.

In the early 2000's, Hank and Katherine retired to his home state of Maine, where he built a summer home on Parker Pond which won a AIA award for wooden structure from the American Institute of Architects Long Island Chapter. Memorial services will be held for him at this home in the fall at a still undetermined date.

As a husband and father, he was dedicated, thoughtful and dependable. One of his business partners called him the most honest man he'd ever known. He gave great, practical advice and was unwavering in his support for his children. He had a wife he loved dearly and missed desperately after her death, and children and grandsons who loved him very much and respected the life that he built.

He proudly served as an officer in the US Navy Reserve, eventually obtaining the rank of Captain and served as a Blue & Gold officer for the US Naval Academy.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine and sister, Bonnie. He is survived by his 3 children, Katherine (Kit) Flynn of Portland, ME, Henry M. Flynn III (Hank) and Harrell Flynn of Newtown, PA, his brother, Eugene P. Flynn of Sharon, MA and his three grandsons, Henry IV, Daniel, and Harrell (Harry) Flynn.
