Wake Forest, North Carolina - Howard Eugene "Pete" Davis, 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Pete was born on April 26, 1937 to the late John Henry and Ruby Carpenter Davis. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Pete retired with 30 years of service from the City of Raleigh. His love of being surrounded by people led him to work part-time at Capital Auto Auction and many years working security at the NC State Fair. Pete's passion was his family and riding his gator. His favorite day of the week was Sunday when family gathered for lunch and fun. Pete loved life and treated everyday as a gift. He never met a stranger and those that knew him, loved him. Pete showed his love in many ways but the most common was "picking with ya!."
Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Frances Kaye Edwards Davis. He is survived by daughters: Gina Stallings (Steve) of Wake Forest and Leian Hearne (Bill) of Raleigh; one sister of 57 years, Sharron Goodwin (Mike); grandchildren: Travis Stallings (Kelly), Matthew Stallings (Jamie), Amber Moody, Bobbie Moody and Karen Holmes (Kevin); 7 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 9, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale. Burial will follow at Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery, 498 W Young St #422, Rolesville.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the funeral home.
