Your father was a wonderful man. He and your mother bring back wonderful memories from way back at Tabernacle. He was always such a soft-spoken, kind man to have been a Lt. Col.in the army! And he has 3 rather exceptional children! I am planning to be at his funeral Saturday. I send my sympathy and love.

Colonel Massengill was one of the most humble and caring men I have known. I worked with him in the USPFO NC in the early 70s and recall how each work day he would come in with a smiling face and the humility he extended to both officers and enlisted members alike was noticed by all. He worked with such diligence each day and yet would always take the time to speak and greet others--he was such a fine Christian man. I am honored to have had the opportunity to know and work with him in the North Carolina National Guard. May God comfort his family and friends during this time.

We have very wonderful memories of Hugh in church and in the workplace. We recall the diligence extended by Hugh in the disposing of church property when we moved to our new location. It was a monumental task.
