She attended Durham City Schools, graduating from Durham High School in 1954. She received her associates degree in music from Campbell College in 1956. God bestowed upon Jackie the talent of singing and she used that talent to glorify Him publicly from the age of 12 until almost the day she went to be with Him in heaven.

She served along side him through 6 churches as minister of music, WMU director and Sunday school teacher among other supporting church roles. She was also a full time mother to their four children and later returned to the workforce at SAS Institute in Cary as an executive administrative assistant. She enrolled again at Campbell University and earned her B.A. Degree in Business at the age of 59.
Jackie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2012. She was able to live independently in her own home for years and later with the help of her grand-daughter, Kelsea Creech, until her recent hospitalization. She suffered a stroke on Thanksgiving Day, 2021 and was unable to recover.
Jackie is survived by daughter, Jennifer Weatherspoon Creech and husband Ryan; son, Robert Lee Weatherspoon III (Bob) and wife, Amy; daughter, Amanda Weatherspoon Mizelle and husband, Randy; son, William Franklin Weatherspoon (Bill) and wife LeeAnne; nine grandchildren and their significant others: Ashley Deal, Courtney Creech Harvey (John), Alexander Creech (Morgan), Kelsea Creech (Jordan), Nicole Weatherspoon (Tee), Brooke Weatherspoon Padgett (Casey), Tanner Mizelle, Kylie Mizelle, Andrew Fulk (Lindsay) and seven great-grandchildren: Lucas, Melanie, Blaze, Natalie, Avery, Nolan and Archer.
She is also survived by her brother, Doug Richards as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Weatherspoon, Jr.; her sister, Lucy Richards Herndon; her brother, Robert Richards and her sister, Kathrine Richards Barron.
Services will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Good Hope Baptist Church Sanctuary in Cary, NC at 2:00pm with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Good Hope Baptist Church Family Life Center following the burial.

Jackie worked very closely with me for many years as Executive Assistant at SAS. She was smart, organized, efficient and loyal to her team and to SAS. Because of her outstanding work ethic, Jackie moved on to new positions at SAS with increasing responsibility.
I will always remember Jackie's beauty inside and out - meticulously dressed and coiffed! Never an ugly word about anyone. Simply the best. I consider myself lucky to have known Jackie.
In Sympathy for your loss,
Theresa Tesh
