James Grantham Obituary
November 6, 1935 - November 8, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Mr. James "Jim" Ivy Grantham, 86, died Monday evening after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was a longtime resident of Raleigh and a member of Asbury Church. Jim was born and raised in Brownsville, TN, and attended college at Auburn University, where he joined the ROTC and became a Naval Lieutenant upon graduation in 1958. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA, where he met and married Rosa in 1959. He ultimately completed a Master's degree in Engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. Jim was a successful entrepreneur and businessman who started his own company, Certek, Inc., in 1979.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosa; their three children: Debra married to Richard Cowart; Kia married to Rick Glosson; and James; four grandchildren: Jacob Cowart, Breanna Glosson, Morgan Glosson and wife Sarah-Anne, and Gabriel Glosson; and two great grandchildren, Claire and Jill Glosson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. Visitation will be held starting at 1pm on the same day. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Mausoleum of Raleigh Memorial Park.
