James Sapikowski Obituary

Alison Jane Powell Sapikowski
Jim and Alison Sapikowski passed away recently.
Jim was born September 26, 1952 in Detroit, MI and Alison, April 11, 1956 in Boston, MA.
Jim had a larger-than-life personality and an incredible entrepreneurial spirit. He had enthusiasm for everything he did and lived to the fullest. Hewas an athlete, talented in many sports and funneled some of his talents and energy into the UNC Club Ice Hockey team as a coach. Alison was brilliant, caring, energetic, and full of humor and laughter. She was an avid tennis player, talented artist, and loved to travel with her family.
The son of Joseph Sapikowski (deceased) and Mary Sapikowski of Elkhart, IN, Jim attended Bishop Borgess High School in Detroit, MI and Central Michigan University (BS). The daughter of Malcolm Powell, M.D. of Calistoga, CA and Connie Powell of Scottsdale, AZ, Alison attended Redwood High School, Larkspur, CA, University of California at Los Angeles (BA) and University of Southern California School of Business (MBA). They were co-owners of J5, Inc., an oiland natural gas exploration and production business.
Jim was the loving father of Chris Sapikowski of Durham, NC and Brandon Sapikowski of El Paso, TX. He and Alison were also the loving parents of Lauren Sapikowski of Lexington, VA and Adam Sapikowski of Chapel Hill, NC.
In addition, Jim leaves to mourn his passing: his mother, Mary Sapikowski of Elkhart, IN; and a brother, Pat Sapikowski of Elkhart, IN. Alison leaves to mourn her passing: her mother and father, Malcolm Powell and Connie Powell; sisters, Pam Powell of Alexandria, VA, Beth Moras of Ridgewood, NJ, Brett Powell of Mill Valley, CA, and Dean Powell of Novato, CA. They also leave to mourn their nieces and nephews: Travis and Tanner Powell; Albert, Andrew and Madison Moras; and Derek and Kimberly Sapikowski and a host of friends.
Memorial Services Note: Although a memorial service has notbeen arranged at this time, the family plans to arrange a service in the near future.
