James Webb Obituary

James Theodore "Ted" Webb Jr., of 1009 Cedarhurst Drive, died suddenly Tuesday January 24, 2006 at his residence. He was 62 years old. He was born in Fayetteville, NC son of Mildred Willis Webb and the late James Theodore Webb, Sr.
Ted was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a CPA working for 12 years with the A.M. Pullen CPA firm in Charlotte, NC. He later moved to Raleigh in 1979 where he was employed by CP&L/Progress Energy for 26 years until his retirement in December 2005.
Ted wasa long-time member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder, Deacon, various committee chairs, but hispassion was as a Care-giving Deacon. He was a member of his professional CPA associations. Throughout his life, he participated in many activities with his children including Boy Scouts, YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses as well as coaching tee-ball, baseball, and soccer. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid Carolina Tar Heels and New York Yankees fan, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He participated in civic and service-oriented activities and especially enjoyed lively conversations in his racial reconciliation supper club.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marilyn England Webb; children, Jeffrey Steven Webb and Julie Elizabeth Webb, of Raleigh, and Jennifer Rebecca Webb of Chicago, IL; his mother, Mildred Willis Webb of Hope Mills, NC; his sister, Carolyn Webb Gilmore and brother-in-law, Jack Rhodes Gilmore of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2006 at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church Parlor and other times at the home at 1009 Cedarhurst Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609.
