Rufus and family:
In looking back over the last 50+ years, I see Janice as an "ICON" to many of the accomplishments during and well after my attendance at Frederick. She was the person that continued to carry the Torch for the Frederick Military Academy Reunions and will be greatly missed as we go forward. As our numbers diminish there are still times when we gather to Honor those staff and cadets that made those lasting impressions on us all.
Many thanks to you and Janice for the years of dedication to Frederick and its Cadet Corp.

Wendy & Cindy (Brian, Tony, and Ty), our hearts ached when we heard that your mom had passed. We were privileged to meet her and your dad just a few times at the beach, but it was immediately obvious how much they adored you and their large extended family & friends. They both seemed to really enjoy life and all that it offers. Please give your dad a big hug for us. We hope you will find the strength to celebrate your mom's life & memories and carry on her legacy through doing good deeds for others in her honor. Peace & Love, David & Wendy

Coach and Family:
Janice was a woman of rare quality and a bright light at the academy. She always had a kind word to say and encouragement for all of us who attended FMA as cadets. Her love and commitment continued after the academy was closed thru the alumni association and it was always special to see her at the reunions. We truly have lost someone very special who is deeply missed.

Big Ru, We are heartbroken and saddened over losing Janice. You two and all your kids became our family as you mentored Sandy when we first came to Frederick. You and Janice were our foundation and comfort. We have always loved and cherished you for those years. Ryan loved you and thought Perry was put on earth to be his friend and "big brother". You and Janice touched so many lives and your legacy will live forever. We love you, Marsha, Sandy, Ryan and Jessica Smith

Rufus and family, God has left Our church family with heavy hearts but not with sadness. Janice gave every once of energy even when feeling under the weather to Her Lord and every position she had in church. Her dedication to her church was so priceless. The caring to her fellow man was of kindness and respect. She was a true lady. I can see her now as Christ Jesus saw Janice as she walked through Heavens Gate telling her come on in to your mansion I had prepared for you. Rufus as I write this to you tears overwhelmed me and I know your Janice would say to you, It is well with my soul. I am well. I have no burden anymore, I will be waiting for you to join together again as one in the sweet by and by. God give your family the peace you so deserve. God give you peace.

Rufus and Family,
Words can't express the deep sadness we feel in the loss of Janice. From the moment we walked into Grove Park she has been there to support and encourage us each step of the way.
Her church work did not go unnoticed. She always threw herself into everything she did to make things as perfect as she could get it.
I will truly miss the long talks we had about school and comparing notes. I will also miss being able to confide things in her and getting advice on how to handle it. I will never forget the many times we battled over games of Scrabble and or playing Phase 10.
As you go through the difficult days ahead, remember you are being lifted in prayer. Hold on to God and lean on Him. Keep the memories close to your heart and never left them go.
