Jeanne Schulte Obituary

Jeanne Schulte, nee Meyerratken, 77, died peacefully at home in Chapel Hill on May 2, 2008, surrounded by her children and family. Her death was the result of a protracted battle with ALS "Lou Gehrig disease".
She is survived by her three living children, Raymond Schulte of Rome, Italy, Lori Sparrow and husband, Robert, their children, Alex and Lindsey of Hillsborough; Becky Anderson and husband, Larry of Durham. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Jeanne also leaves behind a brother, George Meyerratken and wife, Diane of Covington, KY; sister-in-law, Joan Schulte Price and husband, Thomas of Jamestown, KY; brother-in-law, Ed Schulte and wife, Elizabeth of Louisville, KY; nieces and nephews; cousins; many close friends; and a large group of former students as well as her spiritual family of the church community at St. Thomas More Parish, Chapel Hill.
The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at St. Thomas More Church, 940 Carmichael Street, Chapel Hill. The most Reverend F. Joseph Gossman, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Raleigh will preside at the mass. Reverend Monsignor Michael G. Clay will preach the homily. The mass will also be con-celebrated by a number of priest friends from the Diocese of Raleigh.
There will be a brief reception in the narthex after mass, followed by the burial rite Chapel Hill Municipal Cemetery, Highway 15-501.
Prior to the mass, the family will greet friends in the narthex of the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Catholic Community of St. Thomas More, 940 Carmichael Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 or Duke HomeCare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704 or the Jim Hunter Chapter of the ALS Association, 120-101 Penmarc Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603.
