Englewood, Florida - Joseph W. "Bill" Cunningham passed away April 2,2022, in Englewood, Fla. Bill was born in Tampa, Fla. on Oct 23, 1936. He was a graduate of Florida State University (BA), NC State University (MA) and Purdue University (PhD). He served as an US Army psychologist in Abilene, Texas. He was a full professor in Industrial Psychology at NC State University for over 38 years retiring as an emeritus professor. He was innovative in his field having dozens of research articles published in professional journals. He was highly regarded for his work with undergraduate and graduate students. Upon retirement, he returned to Florida living on Palm Island for nearly 20 years. He is survived by his son, Joseph W. "Chip" Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Angela R. Cunningham; and granddaughters Kailee R. Cunningham and Claire R. Cunningham. He will be remembered by friends and family for his warmth, kindness and generosity.
Memorial service for Bill, and his wife of 61 years, Patricia S. "Pat" Cunningham, July 9,2022 at 12:00 pm, at St. Francis Assisi Church in Englewood, Fla. Internment ceremony will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation

I owe so much to Dr. Cunningham (as I called him, he would often reply, "call me Bill). Under his tutelage, financial support, and freedom to try new things, I was able to develop research skills which served me well in the rest of my career. I am very sad to hear of his passing.
