Kevin Joseph Roche, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Cary, North Carolina on November 24th 2013.
Kevin was born in London England on June 11, 1926 to Thomas Patrick and Mary Eliza Roche. The family moved to New York where Kevin lost his mother when he was two years old. He was raised by his father and a cousin from Ireland, his dear Aunt Mary.
Kevin joined the U.S. Navy and served 4 years during World War II. After returning home he met and married his one true love, Mary Ellen O'Connor or "Irish" as he called her.
Kevin and Mary Ellen had 4 children Thomas, Kathleen, Deborah and Mary Ellen all raised in Poughkeepsie , NY. Kevin joined IBM in 1955. After a distinguished career, Kevin retired from IBM and moved to Lakeway, Texas. Kevin and Mary Ellen loved to travel to new and exciting destinations as well as visiting family in Texas, North Carolina, New York, France, England and Ireland.
Kevin never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He was quick with a joke and an opinion. He was an avid reader of mostly history.
He will be missed by all who ever met him, including his loving family. He leaves his wife, Mary Ellen of 63 years and three daughters: Mary Ellen Harrison, Deborah Royster and Kathleen Roche; sons in law Bret Harrison, Greg Royster and Peter Moran; and 11 grandchildren Michael and Kristen Meloy, Emily, Patrick, Sarah and Bridget Harrison, Colleen and Sean Royster, Joseph and Norah Moran and Lindsey Roche and many, many friends near and far.
A funeral mass will be held Friday December 6 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary, at 10:45 AM. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Wake County who were so loving and attentive to Kevin & M.E. The address is Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, 27511.

Deepest condolences from Brendan Barry (and wife Yvonne) in Ireland. My late parents Tom and Kitty Barry were very close friends of Kevin and Mary Ellen and that closeness still resonates.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to all the Roche Family. We will always be grateful for the many kindnesses of Mary Ellen and Kevin as we moved from East Fishkill to Austin, Texas, and at their suggestion right into the same neighborhood! We will always hold some many good memories close to our heart.

The Smith family "kids" extend their deepest sympathy to the entire Roche family at this difficult time. We will always remember the Roches and the wonderful friendship they shared for well over 50 years with our parents. "Mare and Kev" along with "Marilyn and Smitty" - times they shared were some of the happiest for our parents. Love and sympathy to you all and a special hug to Mrs. R.
