I thought I would share this poem with you, it meant a lot to me after my son's passing. lol
LETTER FROM HEAVEN:
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

kyle was the first friend I had up here in NC. He was a special kid and there was something about him that just made your day. I remember the first time I met him at camp he had dressed up with a funny lookin hat and big glasses, he made everyone laugh. You could see it in his eyes that he was who he was and wasnt trying to be anyone else but himself and that was one of the many special things about kyle. Just by being around him taught me many things and I wish he was still here.

Karen, Jimmy, and Krysta,
We are so sorry for the loss of your son and brother. I remember when Kyle was almost born on the way to the hospital. I told Jimmy he should have driven the patrol car with lights and sirens, but he had that tbird in the wind. I'll never forget Jimmy putting him in his racing helmet, he looked so comfy and cute.
Please know our family is thinking about ya'll. I know Kyle and his grandaddy are looking out for all of you from heaven.
You are in our prayers,

I had seventh grade with Kyle. we had science and math together. i cannot remember a dull moment in any of those classes. in science we had a cell city project and kyle and i were in the same group. it took us a while, but we eventually got the project done. kyle always kept us on our toes, we never knew what he was going to do next. from the minute anyone met kyle, they knew, or atleast had the idea in the back of their mind, that their lives were going to change from that minute forward. i remember in math we would hook up our graphing calculators and transfer games in the back of the class. haha i think "block-man" was the best. kyle never really cared what other people thought about him, and i think by that, he changed so many peoples lives. i guess big G up there just needed another amazing angel like kyle up there to give him a hand. i only wish i had the time to be better friends with kyle than i was. he is, and always will be, missed greatly. atleast we all know he is in a great place now, and that he is watching over everyone.
rest in peace kyle

i didnt know kyle that well. if you asked him i probably wouldnt be one of his friends.
i met him at summer camp for YMCA last year.
just knowing him made my life better. it was only a week but between the endless ssx tricky and the mad dodgeball games it was great.
he went to dillard and was one year above me. i really regret never talking to him.
i can't even imagine how hard it is on you guy's. it was hard on me.
even trying to remember all the good things he did its still hard.

For Little Miss Krysta:
Sweetheart, I know you and your family are going through a mighty tough time right now, and I can't imagine how sad you must feel about losing your brother. I know you really loved him lots and lots, and you had a ton of fun with him, too. Jonah, Julian, Evan, and I think he was a cool kid, and we are really glad we got to know him.
Please wrap your arms around your shoulders and squeeze: that's a hug from Miss Kevyn for you. Give your mama and daddy a hug from me, too. You'll be in our hearts and thoughts during this sad time. Please don't hesitate to talk to me or find me at school if you're feeling sad.
Love,
Miss Kevyn (Mrs. Creech)

Byrd Family,
I was in the jazz band with kyle, he was always the life of the group. One time when all of the trumpets went to go get a drink of water (break) kyle and austin stayed on their own and kept playing with the rest of the band. Just little things like that made Kyle the way he was. He will never be forgot.

Byrd family,
Although we have never met, my condolences to out to you for the tragic loss of your son, Kyle. Being a fellow Apex citizen, a mother of teenage boys, I wanted you to know that you are being thought of and prayed for by even those in the community you have never met. It sounds like Kyle was a terrific young man and you should be very proud. My 14 yr old son did not know Kyle but has many friends who did and he expressed the sadness they are all feeling. Just know my heart aches for you at this time and I pray you find comfort in family, friends and the joy of Kyle's memory.

"Byrdman", I am going to miss you so much. You were a great friend and a great person. I had fun with you in band and in general. I am so sad that you are gone but I know that you are with God and I will see you again one day when I get to heaven. Until then, I will do what your Dad said and look for your smile in the sky when I miss you so much down here. I will never forget you.

Karen, Jimmy and Krysta, I was devastated when I heard about your lost. No words can express what I want to say. I pray that God comforts and keeps you. I can only smile when I think of Kyle beginning to play the trumpet on the stairs in front of Dancebeat. His excitement and determination - Wow. He was so determined. I also remember him quickly getting homework done so that he could move on to really having fun while waiting for Krysta at the studio and Karen you were right there to make sure he had dotted every i and crossed every t. Jimmy you were such a good father to him and Krysta you had such a special bond with big brother. He was an awesome young man and you guys are an awesome family. Please now that I will never forget him or you. Love Carolyn & Deja

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of birds circling in flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there.
I do not sleep.
Karen, Jimmy and family - although I can appreciate the message in the above quote, we all are sharing in your tears for the loss of your son. I send my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

The Byrd Family,
We were sorry to hear of your loss. Kyle was in band with our son Chris (the other really blond kid). The night of the Awards ceremony at AMS, Kyle & Chris were standing together in the band room playing some music together and cutting up the way they always did. Both were dressed in black shirts with their blond hair and I remember making a remark about the blond "Men in Black". He was a great kid, and will truly be missed by all who he came in contact with.
We hope and pray that your family will be comforted by the fact that Kyle was so well loved and is now doing his magic in a better place.
May God bless you and comfort you.

Karen & Jimmy I can't express my sorrow for your loss. I remember Shana & I going to the hospital the day Kyle was born. Jimmy, your father was sitting & rocking Kyle & he stood up & handed him to me & I sat down & rocked him. He was so very precious. I am so very sorry. I wrote a poem that was read at my Mother's funeral that I think of often & a line in it says "We'll say so long for now, and we'll see you again some day, for you are not gone, you are just away". You will see him again & you will always have you wonderful memories. My thoughts & prayers are with you & all of your family.

Jimmy, Karen, Krysta and Family...
I am so very sorry to hear of your great loss. Reading what his friends have wrote of Kyle, he seemed to have been a very special friend to everyone, and someone who could light up a room before he even walked into it. Just know that for whatever reason it may be, and as hard as it is, the Lord had his reason for taking Kyle at such a young age. I am sure Kyle is lighting the way through Heaven for others to follow. My thoughts and prayers are with you Jimmy and Karen.

kyle,
at the beginning of the year, i used to bug you a lot, but as the year went on we became better and better friends. you were in my homeroom class [ms. bruners class] & you always made that part of the day one of my favorites. you and zach always made me laugh & i will never forget how funny you were with ms. bruner & ms. howard. you were such an awesome trumpet player and i will never forget the last band performace [: when you came back from spring break & your hair was NEON! i loved it. it just made you even more unique than you already were. in ms. bruners class; whenever we would do a play or something you would always want to be one of the main parts. i loved that you had that kind of confidence. whenever i would come into class, mad that someone made fun of me or made me mad in the last period, you always made everything better, even if you just made me laugh one time. im never going to forget you kyle and i know that as soon as school starts, & later on in the summer, its really going to hit me. im very upset that i cant make your funeral because im out of town, but i know that i will see you someday & i cant wait. i love you kid. i know that everyone misses & loves you so much. i wish that this hadn't been so sudden. i know that your in a better place now, though & im happy for you. i love you[:

Kyle, even though I only met you this year, it feels like I've known you forever. Every day I saw your great smile in school and we had so many fun times. I was just getting to know you before you went to heaven. Wait for me up there and think of everyone down here every day and never forget us, because no one who's ever met you is ever going to forget your great personality. And even though I can't go to the funeral, just know that I'll be thinking of you every minute of it and keeping you in my prayers. I'm gonna miss you so much once it hits me that you really are gone, not just on summer vacation. God works in funny ways, but he must of had a pretty good reason for wanting you up there with him.

I feel that I have known Kyle even though I never met him. It breaks my heart to know that a person such as your son has been taken from us. Im really sorry about what happened to Kyle. I knew him really well through school and band and he was the happiest person I've ever met. He could always make us laugh, and I'm sure he wishs he could do that now when everyone is sad. He was the greatest person, and heaven got very lucky. I'm sorry I can't go to the funeral, but I'm going to be there in heart if not in person. Kyle, I miss you a lot, and our classes together would never have been so great if it weren't for you.
