Laurie McCabe Obituary

Laurie McCabe passed quietly in her sleep after a brave battle with cancer. She was 64. Laurie was born in Fargo, ND as the fourth child of Thomas and Lynn (Kleeman) McCabe. The family ultimately settled in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. After high school, Laurie joined the Navy, becoming a corpsman. She loved helping others, and the medical field was perfect for her. Laurie served our country proudly for 11 years, often saying it was one of the highlights of her life. Once discharged from the Navy, she entered civilian life. Laurie became a Certified Medical Assistant. She settled in Raleigh, NC, using her vast medical experience with her new employer Raleigh Adult Medicine. Laurie loved working there. The staff and co-workers became her second family. She was with them for over 20 years. When not working, Laurie loved traveling, NASCAR, photography, scrapbooking, going to CMA seminars, reading, her church and family, and the always interesting 'Where's Laurie Now'. Laurie's infectious laugh could light up a room.

Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Terry Bradish, Aunts Sheila (McCabe) Ryan and Susan (Kleeman) MacKay. She is survived by a brother Michael (Cindy) McCabe of Myrtle Beach, SC, sister Kathleen (Peter) Haskell of Colmar, PA, sister Cynthia Bradish of Wells, ME, many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Yes Church in Garner, NC at 2:00 Sunday February 22nd. The address is 125 Commerce Pkwy, Garner, NC, 29579. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Yes Church, RAM friends, and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of the Veterans organizations.
