Lokie Garland Martin

Lokie Garland Martin of Durham, died Monday, September 17th, 2007 at his home.
He was born April 5, 1914, to the late Carlos Ciblon and Myrtle Azzie Byrd Martin. He was the grandson of Alonza Burton and Susana Magdaline Flythe Martin and Chesley Jackson and Loretta Adeline Yates Byrd.
His wife, Olivia Anderson Martin, brother, Ciblon Martin, and sisters, A. Lucille Whitehurst, Floy Christian, Inez Ficken Beam, and Winona Carrington, and nephews, Robert Martin and Martin Ficken, predeceased him.
Surviving are niece Carla Whitehurst Odom; nephews, John Ciblon Martin, Ralph Derell Martin, and Lawson Wescott Martin; grandnieces, Charlotte Martin Odom Lytle, Catherine Odom Quick, Robin Martin Dilehay, Sara Martin Ficken, Laura Jenny Ficken and Katherine Lin Kicken; and grandnephew, Adam Upchurch Martin; great-grandnephews, Robert A.P. Lytle, Christian Douglas Quick, and Andrew K. Lokie Quick; and cousins.
Mr. Martin had requested that his family be acknowledged; however, that all philanthropic, civic, professional, business, and organizational affiliations remain anonymous in his published obituary. Appreciation is extended to friends, Annie Teague and Heartland Hospice for their devoted service to Mr. Martin.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark D. Stephens officiating.
