Marian Ruth (Brown) Carson

Cary, North Carolina - Marian Ruth (Brown) Carson, 99, beloved mother to five children, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away on May 23, 2024, after leading a life characterized by her positive attitude and unwavering commitment to her family. Marian will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Marian was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1924 to Allan Hill Brown and Marguerite Anne Brown. Marian graduated from Ashtabula High School in Ohio and attended Wooster College majoring in music. Toward the beginning of WWII, Marian's father, an army chaplain, was transferred to Gainesville, Florida. There, Marian met and later married Nathan Bryan Carson, her husband of 59 years. The church choir and their love for music brought them together. After the war, they moved to Chicago and in 1954 settled in Lombard, Illinois where they raised their family. Marian and Nat were active members of the First Methodist Church in Lombard where she directed the adult, youth, and children's choirs for many years. Marian and family moved to Cary, NC in 1973.

Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nathan Carson, by her grandson, David Scharlau, and by her brother, Robert Brown. She is survived by her children: Carolyn Schuldt, Kathryn Nieberding (William), Bryan Carson (Dorothy Albin), Robert Carson (Maureen), and Christopher Carson (Susan), who will always remember the love she brought to their lives. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the kind and caring support of Marian from the staff and management of Glenaire where she lived over the last nineteen years.

A service to celebrate the life of Marian Carson will be held on Monday, June 10th, at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Glenaire, located at 4000 Glenaire Circle, Cary, NC. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the DSJ Scholarship Fund, a fund established in 2002 in memory of Marian's grandson and two other young men.
