Marlene Creech Obituary

Marlene Morgan Creech
April 19, 1938 - January 11, 2022
Raleigh, North Carolina - Marlene Morgan Creech was born on April 19, 1938 to the late Carson A. Morgan and Ida Lee Morgan in Benson, NC. Growing up on a farm, Marlene graduated from Meadow High School and afterward graduated with an Associates Degree from Campbell College. She married Billy Ray Creech on March 5, 1960 at her parent's home and then moved to Raleigh NC. They had 2 children, Dianne LoRay Creech and Randy Ray Creech. Marlene spent her career working for the NC Wildlife Resources Commission as a Human Resources Specialist, retiring in 1995. In addition to their Raleigh home, Billy and Marlene bought mountain land and started a Christmas tree farm in Ashe County. They enjoyed many wonderful seasons providing Christmas trees, fresh wreaths, that Marlene made, and holiday cheer to so many families who visited the farm each year. Most of all, Marlene loved spending time with her family. She loved her grandsons dearly and spent hours sitting with them as children, visiting parks, supporting their school activities, or simply being grandma. She also loved spending time with her Great-Grandson Lane. Marlene was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was involved in her Sunday School class, Bible studies and worship. She volunteered in the church library and in the church office. She was very blessed to live in a wonderful neighborhood where she had many friends and a community of people that looked after each other everyday. Marlene always made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. She will be missed by her loving family and many, many wonderful friends.
Marlene is survived by her daughter Dianne Creech Kapherr and son-in-law Joey Kapherr, her grandsons William Kapherr (Lindsey), and Allen Kapherr (Rebecca), her great-grandson Lane Kapherr, two sister-in-laws and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Billy, her son Randy, her brothers Jim and Curtis, and her sister Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Rd, Raleigh NC.
Arrangements are held with Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh, NC 27609
