Raleigh
Marshall "Mack" Byrd, 75, passed away Tuesday.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.
He was born in Johnston County to James and Annie Johnson Byrd.
In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Byrd.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife of 49 years, Brenda Byrd; daughter, Priscilla Byrd of Cary; and his son, Derick Byrd and wife, Kaori of McKinney, TX.
The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the funeral service; and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made in Mack's memory to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America at www.lcfamerica.org.

Mack was a "man" for all men to look up to. He was so authentic and caring to all people he meant. A loving husband and father and friend to many. He was very easy to be around and his humble nature was shown in all his actions. I will truly miss him.
To the family: at this time of great loss and pain, I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that he is in a better place.

Hey Mrs Byrd I just found out about the passing of mr Mack. I know I hadn't known Mack very long but he was such a great guy. I thought of him as a surrogate father. After only a short period of time knowing him I thought we bonded. He came to my father's funeral without even meeting him. Not for my dad but for me. That cemented a special bond in some way for me. I'm so shocked to hear about his passing and saddened . I know he was Mr Fix-It so please know I'm happy to help you in any way. I will see you and the family on Friday. If you need anything please don't hesitate to ask. I will truly miss Mr Mack. Thank you and Mack for all the great stories and fellowship throughout the few years.
