Maude Mooring Obituary

JULY 8, 1934 - JANUARY 8, 2009
Maude Owens Mooring, 74, of Raleigh passed away at home Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 after an extended illness.
Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Joyner's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Stantonsburg Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate.
Mrs. Mooring was a long time resident of Greene County where she operated the family farm and raised her five children as members of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church. She was honored as an Outstanding Woman in Agriculture by the NC Agriculture Extension Service in 1984. She continued to love the outdoors and growing things after she moved to Raleigh in 1994.
She was born in Stantonsburg, July 8, 1934 to the late Edrie Keel Richards and Seth McCoy Owens.
Mrs. Mooring is survived by two daughters, Joy Mooring Johnson, M.D. and husband, John of Raleigh, Judy Keel Brune and husband, Ronald of Greenville, SC; three sons, Milton Thomas Mooring Jr. and wife, Carole of College Park, MD, Timothy Allen Mooring of Raleigh, Clay McCoy Mooring and wife, Jan of Raleigh; five grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Owens Stewart of Bunnlevel; four nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Thomas Mooring Sr., her parents, a sister, Mary Frances Vick and a brother, Seth McCoy Owens Jr.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to many wonderful people, including the staff of Mayview Convalescent center, Hospice of Wake County, caretakers of At Home Quality Care, Dr. Mark Nichols, Dr. Susheel Atree, Dr. Richard Weisler, and Dr. Elizabeth Holmes.
Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be considered to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh, NC 27605.
