Maybelle Cook McLaurin, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3217 Piney Grove-Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Winfred McDuffey McLaurin.
Maybelle was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher. She touched many lives by instilling in others her love for the Lord. Her happy and sweet disposition was evidence of a loving heart with compassion and care for others. She looked forward to that great homecoming in the sky.
She is survived by her seven children, Marie Wood & husband, Buck of Holly Springs, Mildred Stone & husband, Connie of Raleigh, Larry McLaurin & wife, Brenda of Fuquay-Varina, Gayle Capps & husband, Russell of Raleigh, Jerry McLaurin & wife, Tayi of Raleigh, David McLaurin & wife, Sharon of Lillington, and Phil McLaurin & wife, Teresa of Fuquay-Varina; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at Piney Grove Baptist Church and other times at the home of Maybelle McLaurin.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.

Heaven has gained such a beautiful lady!! My knowing Miss Maybelle was brief but inspiring. The world felt happier and gentler when she was around. She showed us all what being a lady was all about. Her genuine kindness stood out. My condolences to her daughter and all of her family. How fortunate you are to have had her in your life. Rest In Peace, dear lady.
