Michael Toper Obituary

Michael M. Toper Sr., 87, of Lenox Ave., Jewett City, died Friday evening at the W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born April 17, 1913 in Jewett City son of the late Martin and Ann (Pisarczyk) Toper Sr.
On Sept. 3, 1938 he was married to Blanche Grabowski in two year marriage. She survives him.
Mr. Toper worked at Plastic Wire and Cable as an extruder operator and also was a foreman in the Molding Dept. before retiring in 1978.
He was a communicant of St. Mary church in Jewett City, a member of the Griswold Senior Center and a past member of the Polish Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and helping others, especially the elderly.
He was predeceased by two brothes, Walter Toper and Stanley Toper.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son and his wife, Michael and Barbara Toper Jr. of Plainfield; a daughter and her husband, Cynthia and Erik Matson of Wake Forest, NC; sister, Julia Price of Jewett City; grandchildren, Brian Toper and Becky Toper, both of Plainfield, Laura Matson and Vicki Hoots, both ofNorth Carolina; great-grandsons, Aaron and Mason and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Rd., Rt. 138, Jewett City.
A Mass of Christian burial willbe held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church Jewett City. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be madeto the Cancer Society, 238 W. Town St., Norwich, Ct.
