Millard Currin Obituary

AUGUST 1, 1919 - DECEMBER 6, 2007
Millard "Bob" Roberts Currin, Sr., 88, died Thursday at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Harnett County he was the son of the late Alvis and Lonie Currin. Mr. Currin was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he had served as a Trustee in previous years. Before joining with the Trinity Baptist Church he was a member and served as a deacon in the Angier Baptist Church. He attended Wake Forest University where he was a member of the marching band and also attended UNC Chapel Hill. He was an avid Tarheel fan. Mr. Currin was a tobacconist with Liggett- Myers and Standard Commercial tobacco companies. He was also a co-founder of C&D Insurance Co., and a family farmer. He served his country in WWII as a crew chief in the Army Air Corps, and received a Bronze Star from the General for sending 200 air missions without any mechanical problems.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Angier Cemetery.
Surviving are: his wife of 48 years, Nancy Jackson Currin; daughters, Nancy C. Bertrand and husband, Andre', Jeanette C. Strickland and husband, Ray; son, Millard "Bobby" Roberts Currin, Jr. and wife, Rita, all of Angier; grandchildren, Amber Bertrand of Angier, Allison Rice and husband, Matthew of Fort Benning, GA, Jamie and Kasey Strickland, both of Angier, Jackson Currin of Angier; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, and Caroline Rice of Ft. Benning, GA; sister, Frances Currin Currie of Broadway; sister- in-law, Helen Currin of Dunn; his special doctor, Dr. C. Allen Eure of Raleigh; and his special friends, Herndon Wells and Brenda Hayes, both of Angier.
The family sincerely appreciates the wonderful care from Liberty Hospice of Dunn and his "special" nurse, Lisa Honeycutt of Angier.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Buck Currin, Maynard Currin, Joe Currin, and Hank Currin; sisters, Gladys Currin, Billie Pruyn and Ada Louise Currin.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier.
