Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Nancy K. Horncastle peacefully left the world on March 24, 2022. Nancy was born on April 14, 1942 in New York, New York to Emanuel and Rosalind Kirschenbaum. A proud New Yorker, Nancy attended public school in NYC before moving to White Plains with her parents and older brother, Stephen. A graduate of White Plains HS, Nancy graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, MA.
During college, Nancy met Raymond. They both had the same circle of friends, and eventually the boy from Crestwood, NY and the girl from White Plains, NY dated in MA, fell in love and married in 1963. They remained married for 43 years, till Raymond died in 2006.
Nancy was a tireless worker, for many years in the Guidance Office at Scarsdale HS and then as a volunteer in her retirement.
After she and Raymond relocated to Raleigh, NC in 1996, Nancy volunteered at the Assistance League of the Triangle Area in the Thrift Shop and over the years knitted hundreds of scarves and hats for deserving children.
In Ft Lauderdale, she devoted considerable time volunteering at St Mark's Episcopal School, which her three youngest grandchildren attended, as a classroom assistant, seamstress for the drama productions and librarian. In 2019, she earned "Grandparent of the Year", an award the school created to honor her.
Nancy is survived by her sons Court and wife Holly, Mark and wife Lorena and her beloved grandchildren Brian, Mallory, Walker, Emma, Audrey, and George.
