Nancy Sanger Obituary

Nancy G. King Sanger (nee Peck) was born in Cleveland, OH on September 24, 1932.
She passed away surrounded by her children and family at Hillside Nursing Home in Wake Forest on January 12, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Sanger of Fayetteville, WV; son, Klare “Skip” King and wife, Junie of Youngsville; daughter, Karen Bell and husband, Jon of Wake Forest; son, William “Bill” Sanger and wife, Kimberly of Apex; and four grandchildren, Kristopher and Nancy Ellen King, of Youngsville, Tiffany Bell of Huntington, WV and Joshua Sanger of Apex. She also leaves her brother, Clark Peck and wife Beryl of Cleveland, OH; her sister-in-law, Beverly Peck of Cleveland, OH; nephews Scott, Carl, and Danny, and nieces, Kathy and Sherri.
She was preceded in rest by her first husband, Clair King of Cleveland, OH and brother, Carlos Peck of Cleveland, OH.
Nancy attended elementary through high school in Cleveland, OH and upon graduation from high school, studied nursing at the Cleveland City Hospital School of Nursing. In 1953, she graduated as a Registered Nurse and began a forty year career in nursing, culminating as the Director of Nursing of the Maples Nursing Home in Bluefield, VA. Following her retirement from nursing in 1994, she spent many years in Fayetteville, WV as an active member of her church. She relocated to Wake Forest in 2001 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Nancy was a devout Christian who had a wonderful singing voice and played both the piano and organ. She loved her family dearly and especially loved Christmas and gathering together as a family and celebrating together. She inspired many family members to sing or play an instrument as well as pursue careers in nursing.
The family will hold a visitation 5-6:30 P.M., Saturday evening, January 15, 2011 at Bright Funeral Home before taking Nancy home to her final resting place at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmstead, Ohio.
The family requests that anyone wishing to furnish a remembrance consider a contribution in her name to Alzheimer's disease research or an Alzheimer's patient care association of the contributor's choice.

To All of Nancy's Family,
The world has lost a wonderful lady and R.N. She will be missed by all of those whose paths crossed her path. I met Nancy in 1950 as we were classmates at City Hospital and spent much time together in the nurses' residence. I have many memories of the special person she was. May it help in some way to know that friends are sharing your sorrow.

Sincerely,
Joey Wolfe Maurer Liccardello
