Ovidio Lugones Obituary

Ovidio Arnaldo Lugones, 80, of Raleigh, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh.
Ovidio was born July 17, 1931 in Cuba to the late Narcizo Lugones and Maria Fontela. He was a veteran of the US Army and was employed as a millwright with General Motors for over 31 years. After his retirement, he moved to Florida and then to Raleigh, NC to be near family. Ovidio was a member of North Ridge Bible Chapel, where he was very active in the prison ministry and the children's Good News Club. He was also a member of Gideon's International.
Ovidio was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Lugones; brothers, Osvaldo; Oscar; and Ovidio Lugones; sisters, Ofelia; and Olga Lugones.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Flor E. Lugones; sons, Alex Lugones and his wife, Amy of CT; Leo Lugones and his wife, Lucy of TX; and daughter, Catherine Bundenthal and her husband, Terence of Raleigh; brother, Orestes Lugones; and sister, Obdulia Lugones; 8 grandchildren, Vanessa; Patricia; Catherine; Melissa; Elizabeth; Anthony; Christa; and Jared.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, June 1, 2012 at North Ridge Bible Chapel, 7100 Harps Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Ridge Bible Chapel.

Nunca estamos listos para enfrentamos a la muerte de un familiar tan querido, pero mi corazon y mi espiritu se regocija al tener la seguridad que mi tio Tatin esta con nuestro Senor Jesus en la gloria y esto es porque el decidio entregar su vida a Aquel que la dio completa por todos nosotros. Tio Tatin fue un ejemplo vivo de lo que Jesucristo hace en la vida de las personas. Me alegra saber que un dia nos volveremos a ver junto con nuestro Senor!! Que la paz del Senor Jesus guarde los corazones de esta familia linda. Los amamos mucho!! Grettel y Bruno.

What a Friend You Have in JESUS ! If one does not know this, my brother in Christ Ovidio would surely have shared the Love of God with you ! Ovidio always was ready to witness to anyone, completely warm and jovial, praising his Lord. He was an ideal husband, ever loving Flor, even at Rex -- on 1 visit, he pointed at Flor and said she is 80, and she is beautiful :) Well done Ovidio -- look forward seeing you in our eternal home, brother.

We are very saddened by the home call of our dear brother Ovidio yet happy to know he is now at home in glory with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our sincere condolences go out to Flor and the family and may God grant them His peace and comfort.

I knew papi as my brother's father-in-law , and i know he loved him very much. Though circumstance and distance kept personal encounters limited, the times I spent in his company were always with such joy. I remember a warm, happy man. Now papi is home, in heaven keeping his loved ones close from a far. He's not gone from our lives, he's just being papi in a different place. Deep regrets for his loss, rest in peace papi!
