Patsy June Cherry

April 17, 1927 - March 21, 2017

Patsy June Cherry, 89, passed away March 21 in Raleigh. She was married to Donald Albert Cherry on June 1, 1984.

Mrs. Cherry was born Patsy June Hickman in Charleston, WV on April 17, 1927, graduated with honors from Stonewall Jackson High School, and soon began work with Kanawha Valley Bank and later Columbia Gas Co., before moving to Raleigh where she worked for N.C. State Agricultural Extension for many years.

She is survived by her husband Donald A. Cherry; brother John Kittinger (Helen) of St. Albans, WV and Laura Rae Jones (Robert) of Venice, FL; son William (Jeff) Morrison and (Martha) of Charlotte; grandchildren Linsey Beford, and Brian Morrison; daughter Jean Vanater-Greco (Robert) of Fairfield, Iowa, and grandchildren Phillip, R. Julian, and Francesca Greco, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kathleen Darlington Kittinger and Lawrence E. (Mike) Kittinger.

Memorial services marking the life of Mrs. Cherry will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sat., 3/25 at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh with Rev. Claire Clyburn, Pastor of Westover United Methodist Church officiating. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
