I received an email reminder that it is almost 10 years since Peter's death. I read my original post and our field placement together. I am thinking of his wife, children, and grandchildren as you mourn his presence in your lives. I mourn that Peter missed time with all of you, his music, and his community. As you do, I am grateful that his earthly body was released from the pain and suffering caused by cancer. He was truly a good person.

I met Peter in August 1986 when we began our field placement at the DukeCommunity Guidance Clinic. We were second year MSW students at UNC's School of Social Work. It was a challenging placement, as at that time the Clinic served many children in foster care as well as others who had a history of trauma. We commiserated together as we learned to write process recordings of our sessions. I remember Peter often spoke of his wife and daughters. I last saw Peter maybe 15 years ago. I did not know about his illness until I saw his obituary this morning. I just finished reading his blog. I'm not surprised that Peter lived his life fully and with grace. Rest in peace, my old friend.
