Remembering Phyllis brings an immediate smile. I was friends with her sister, Pat, in high school and remember her as being funny, accepting and genuine. What a wonderful gift.
Pat, and family, I am so sorry for your loss.

Phyllis will be missed by her McDaniel Rd. friends. She was who she was and that was it. That's something I appreciated about her. May she rest in peace and God comfort her family.

Phyllis and I attend the same church New Bethel Baptist while growing up and same grades in school and graduating from Garner Sr. High in 1969. Phyllis was one of my friends all during that time. She was always a jolly person and had a good sense of humor. I'm so sorry for the family's loss and pray for the peace of Christ to be with her family.

There is no doubt that Phyllis stood out from the majority and will be remembered and missed by many. As a child, she was my very best friend. She taught me so much about her passions: animals, gardening, antiques, jewelry, cooking, crafts, and always sticking up for yourself! I admired her for being such a tough, outgoing person who made me laugh like crazy. Despite her tough facade, she had an incredibly tender heart. To say the least, our family just won't be the same without her.

Phyllis was a wonderful person and friend. We shared many laughs in high school. I saw her several times a week at "her store" before we left Garner. She always greeted me with "Hey Girl." She could always make me smile no matter what was going on. I'm so, so sorry to hear of your loss. She will be missed by many!

Phyllis was my in -town mama. She watched many youngins in the communtity grow up, and even helped some get a job at handee hugo's where she served with 20+ years of her life with loyalty. Those who knew her know she was tough on the outside and she bounced a lot of people out of that store through the years. BUT those that know her well know that she was soft on the inside. Always willing to help the under dog. She loved all animals and she would be touched to know her family asked for donations to the SPCA in her memory. She will be greatly missed by me. My love and condolences go out to her family.
