Richard Nicely Obituary

Richard E. "Richie" Nicely

Raleigh

Richard E. "Richie" Nicely, 44, formerly of Raleigh, died Sunday, September 2, 2018 in UPMC Presbyterian Montifiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born March 14, 1974 in Latrobe, a son of Ronald E. and Marian "Chris" Plummer Nicely, of Latrobe.

He graduated from Broughton High School, Raleigh, NC in 1992. He played baseball at all levels from T-Ball to high school and American Legion. He worked for several motorcycle dealerships in Raleigh and as a soil testing engineer for several companies in NC and PA. He moved back home to Latrobe in 2010 to be near his parents. Ritchie was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ligonier. He loved to play baseball and was an outstanding pitcher. He was a trick performer on both bikes and skateboards. He raced motorcycles for several years and was most at peace while pleasure riding.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Florence and Robert Nicely, maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Gertrude Plummer, and infant half-sister, and a brother, Roger Nicely.

He is survived by a half-sister, Debra Nicely of Ligonier, a former brother-in-law, David (Kathy) Jordan of Sanford, NC, four aunts: Nancy Anderson and Carol (Bob) Mitchell, all of Ligonier, Bonnie (Tom) Large of The Villages, FL, and Shirley Miller of Norvelt, a nephew, Keven (Darcy) Jordan, a grandniece, Kylie Jordan, and two grandnephews, Lucas and Jacob Jordan.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Inc., 144 East Main Street, Ligonier, where Ritchie's life will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00AM with his pastor, the Rev. Robert D. Cummings officiating.

Interment will be in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made in Ritchie's memory to Action for Animals, P.O. Box 814, Latrobe, PA 15650.

I am so sorry to hear about Richie.
I did not know him, but I knew his Father, Ron.
Our blessings are with you and your family, Ron. God knows your pain, and your loss. We will all be praying for you, while trying to make sense of all this.
MAY HIS LOVE BE WITH YOU NOW AND ALWAYS.

Great personal friend and will always be remembered. Was always there for me even when others couldn't be and was a good friend to many others and will be deeply missed!

So sorry to hear this. My condolences go out to the Nicely Family. Richie was one of a kind. We worked together at Team Powersports and purchased houses in the same neighborhood. I will miss our conversations about motorcycles and life.
