Richard Lester Watkins, 52, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018. He was born June 28, 1965 in Wake County to Edward Jackson Watkins, Sr. and Lynda Cook Watkins. Richard's life work was in the restaurant business, which included Big Ed's City Market, Farmer's Market Restaurant, Jack's Seafood and Watkins 24 Hour Grill. Richard spent many hours working beside his mother, Lynda in the yard and at the home place. His favorite place was on the pontoon boat at midnight in the middle of Lake Gaston, looking at the stars. There he fished, skied and cooked for all who would come to eat. Whatever anyone needed, Richard was always there.
Funeral service 11:00 am, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545.
The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
In addition to his parents, Richard is survived by sons: Lee Watkins, Mark Watkins both of Knightdale and sister, Menette Price of Wendell; brother, Herman Edward Faulk of Laurinburg and the love of his life, Debbie Lee Watkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Healing Transitions of Wake County, 1251 Goode Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
Richard was preceded in death by brother, Jackie Watkins.

I am sad to hear that Richard passed away. When we were young, I visited their family frequently, and he always tried to feed me and would tell me "Don't be shy." God bless you Richard!

Richard and I spent a lot of time together in our early years ....we both enjoyed cutting up....if we made someone smile or laugh the day was a good one...We rode Dirt Bikes together...grew up within a mile of each other ... Richard and I got our NCDL about the same time...we had some great laughs together many many times...many memories we shared... I pray for his Mom and Sister his boys and other Family and Friends.... Until we speak again....lots of Love my friend
