Robert Alford Obituary
September 19, 1942 - February 23, 2023
Raleigh, North Carolina - Robert Fagan Alford, Sr., 80, of Raleigh, NC, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Robert, fondly known as Big, Bobby, and Bob, was born to Fred and Ruth Alford on September 19, 1942, in Zebulon, NC. He was a talented athlete who played baseball and football at Wakelon High School. After serving in the Air Force, he graduated from NC State and remained an avid NC State fan his entire life.
Bob took great pleasure in coaching his son's Little League team, practicing with him and faithfully attending every team practice and game from T-ball through his son's high school baseball career.
Bob is survived by his children, Bob Jr. and Michele and their mother, Janet Alford, his sister, Pam Privette, nephew, Rob Privette and great-niece Leah Privette. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Wayne Privette.
After retiring, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, grilling, woodworking, and tirelessly tending to his vegetable gardens and the beautiful flowers surrounding his home.
Bob was loved by many friends and family and will be deeply missed.
