Robert Bryan Obituary

Robert Preston Bryan, 92, of Raleigh, died Sunday morning, July 4, 2010 at Rex HealthCare.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Garner. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
A native of Madison County, Robert was the son of the late Crawford William Bryan and Etta Ammons Bryan. He was a 1938 graduate of Mars Hill College. Robert served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Following his military service he graduated from North Carolina State College in 1946. He was a Soil Conservation Agent for Onslow County and retired as the Radio Extension Editor at North Carolina State University. After retirement, Robert enjoyed woodworking and had a special talent for building mountain dulcimers.
Robert is survived by his children; Robert P. Bryan, Jr. and his wife, Anita of Raleigh, William Butler Bryan of the home, Cynthia Bryan “Cindy” Davis and her husband, Jim of Raleigh, Elizabeth Bryan “Beth” Lewter and her husband, Jimmy of Apex; grandchildren, Robert P. Bryan III, Melissa Bryan Kruger, Matthew Scott Bryan, Bryan Fowler and Jennifer Davis as well as 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Scott “Peggy” Bryan and his son, Douglas Scott Bryan.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Brighton Gardens of Raleigh for their love and compassionate care of their Father during his residency.
