I was so fortunate to attend high school with Bob in paradise, Roosevelt Roads High School, in Puerto Rico. He was an amazing person, with a big heart and even bigger smile. I knew he would do wonderful things in his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and all his friends.

As far as I know, he wrote no poems - yet he was a poet. His conception of all things was grander than the spatial view. Importantly, he sang of the world and while others were silent.
Those who heard came to know.
Having heard, having known - know this: there is no space between then and now. There is not an absence, not a void.
There is only light.
Having heard, having known
- we carry forward.
How high the highest candle lights the dark.

I remember a camping trip that Bob, Lori Bloustein, Steve Riley, Mac Smith and I took with 2 canoes and a kayak down the New River over almost a week one spring. Still one of the most wonderful experiences of my college days, and I've loved camping ever since that trip. I think we were singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in the tent one night, and Bob was wildly riffing on the "Wimoweh" part. We couldn't stop laughing. RIP Bob.
