Robert Grant

1932 - 2026

Robert Wilmot Grant, 93, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Cary, NC. Born on May 26, 1932, Robert, affectionately known as Bob, lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and community.



Bob graduated from Totenville High School in 1950 and earned his degree from Wagner College in 1956. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Following his military service, Bob embarked on a successful career with IBM, where he worked from 1962 until his retirement in 1992.



A devoted family man, Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Grant; his sons Tim (Amy), Jimmy (Heidi), and Michael (Melanie), and John (Fran); and his cherished grandchildren Andrew and Reilly Grant (Tim), Cameron, Julia, and Max Grant (Jimmy), and Alison and Ryder Grant (John). He is also survived by his sister Irene Peterson and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Ester Grant; his brothers Harold and Charles Grant; and his sisters Ethyl Syverson and Linda Busteed.



He enjoyed family reunions at Ocean Isle Beach with a beach house filled with grandchildren. Bob also found joy in giving back to others through volunteering with the USO for many years. His dedication to service extended beyond his career and military service into his personal life.



A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary on March 29, 2026, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the United Service Organization (USO) of North Carolina at 2400 John Brantley Blvd., Morrisville, NC 27560.



Bob will be remembered as a dedicated husband, loving father, loyal brother, and proud grandfather. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
