Ronald L. Weidenfeller
February 21, 1947 - August 25, 2014
Ronald L. Weidenfeller, 67, of Apex, NC passed away on Monday August 25th. Ron was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Catholic Central High School and continued on to receive a BA from the University of Notre Dame, an MA from Grand Valley State University and an MBA from Western Michigan University. Ron was a professor of Business at Grand Rapids Community College for 33 years.
Ron was married to Linda Smith Weidenfeller and they recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. He was an avid runner, cheered for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Detroit Tigers, and fastidiously cared for his lawn and garden. He loved spending time with his family and his most recent joy was being a proud "Papa" to his three grandsons.
He is survived by his wife Linda, son Ryan (wife Megan), daughter Dana Sanders (husband Adam), and grandsons Reed and Carter Weidenfeller, and Luke Sanders. Ron is preceded in death by his mother Leona, and father George Weidenfeller.
A visitation to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, August 30th, 11am to 1pm at the Cremation Society of the Carolinas (http://www.cremationsocietync.com/
- 2205 East Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC). An additional service will occur in Grand Rapids, MI at a later date.
