Ruby Mae Parrish Thompson, age 89, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born March 2, 1928 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Naomi Corbett Parrish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis S. Thompson, Jr.; son, Gary Wayne Thompson; and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dannie Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Watson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon in the fellowship hall just prior to the service.
Surviving are her daughters, Marilyn Thompson and Betty Jean Crocker, both of Pine Level; brother, Murray Parrish and wife Martha of Culpepper, VA; grandchild, Tony Wayne Crocker and wife Brandy; and great grandchildren, Schyler Crocker and Lydia Crocker.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 340, Pine Level, NC 27568, or, BBN Gospel, P.O. Box 7300, Charlotte, NC 28254-3482.

Marilyn and Betty Jean, I have just seen that your dear Mother has left to be with the Lord and with your Father, Lewis,Jr. I always admired his knowledge and compassion,...and her happiness and sway. They both always showed love for each other, for family, and for others as long as they were able. I know you miss both of them so very much.

I just now have learned of Aunt Ruby's passing. My thoughts and prayers to all of the family. I can hear her voice right now and see her smile. Love to all.

So sorry for your loss. Mrs. Ruby was a very special lady to all that met her. She will be missed here on Earth but she has been certainly welcomed home in Heaven! Love and prayers are with you.

My heart breaks for all of you! Aunt Ruby was such a special Aunt! Her love was deeply felt and her laughter was filled with happiness. She knew how to make a girl feel loved and special. I will never forget the good times shared at her house and all the times our families were together. I will miss that sweet smile of hers and I will miss the love she always gave so freely. I know she is celebrating in heaven in the presence of her Heavenly Father and with Uncle Junior and Gary! And I have no doubt she is singing His praises! Please know my heart is with you and my love as well. Rest In Peace Aunt Ruby! I love you!
