Scott Sieben Obituary

Special Agent Scott W. Sieben

Durham

Special Agent Scott W. Sieben left this world on June 2, 2015.

Scott was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, as the fourth of six children to Melvin and Elaine Sieben. He proudly served in the US Marines. He completed his Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary and served as an ordained minister in Milan, Italy.

Before beginning his career with the DEA, he further sharpened his cross-cultural skills while working with the international patient program at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. At the age of 36, Scott began his DEA career out of the Raleigh, NC, and continued to serve in the Tampa Florida office for 10 years. Combining his linguistic gifts and international interests, he returned to Italy with the DEA at the US Embassy in Rome Italy from 2008-2013.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Linda (Waters) Sieben, a Durham native, and their three sons Caleb (26), Nick (24) and Nate (22). He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Mike Waters (and family) as well as his second set of parents, Bucky and Dottie Waters, who loved him like a son.

He is survived by his mother Elaine of Effingham, and siblings Gregory, Michael, Sandy, Nancy, Roger and many nieces and nephews.

Scott relished life. Spending time with family and friends; sharing his knowledge and love for God.; organizing anything within reach; running with Maggie his dog; sharing his frugal German perspective; giving counsel; using words that no one else knew and sending "short" emails, pages long. He loved, prayed and played hard.

He fought hard after his accident but was obedient to a higher call.

A celebration of his life was held at Methodist Temple in Evansville on June 8.

In lieu of flowers, Scott's coworkers established the Sieben Family Benefit Fund at any Old National Bank to help with medical expenses. (Checks made payable to Sieben Family Benefit Fund and sent to Old National Bank- PO Box 718 Evansville, IN 47718. Should there be any surplus of funds, they will go to the DEA Family Survivors Fund.
