It was with great sympathy that I learn of the demise of Sofus and Inge Simonsen, two of the kindest and mostly friendly persons I have ever known. Sofus and I were colleagues at NCSU.

I was fortunate to spend six weeks with Sofus in 1985 when we were on the Fulbright Seminar in Japan. His energy and insights inspired us all.

I offer my sincere condolences to the family of Sofus and Inga. My wife, brother and I enjoyed many Christmas holidays with them. They were such a beautiful couple.
