February 9, 1937 - February 13, 2024

Apex, North Carolina - Sonja Theodora Wassmann (Hansen), 87, formerly of Apex, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024. She was born to parents, Clara and Sven Hansen, on February 9, 1937 in Port Chester, NY. She married Herbert Wassmann in 1958 and they had 3 children; Eric, Linda, and Jennifer.

Sonja is survived by her brother, John Hansen, her children, Eric Wassmann, Linda Vill, and Jennifer Hunt, as well as her grandchildren, Daniel and Derek Vill, Kalina and Sofia Wassmann, Michael and Madeline Posse, and Charles Hunt.

In death, Sonja rejoins her celebrated husband, Herb, her parents, Clara and Sven, and many of her dear friends and family.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Chapel in the Pines, Chapel Hill, NC. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the church or a cancer research organization would be greatly appreciated.
