Roxboro, North Carolina - Vennie Lou Clayton departed this life on Monday, September 29, 2025 surrounded by the people she loved most. Vennie was beloved by many. She was embodied with a gentle loving spirit that shined through her eyes and bright smile that left a lasting impact on all those who have had the pleasure of meeting her. She treasured the simple things in life: quiet afternoons with her cat Sweetie, twice-a-day phone calls with her sister, and the comfort of her childhood home. She loved serving people whether it was at work, in her church, or at her house. Her home was always warm, welcoming and open to anyone who would soon became like family. Beyond that, she had a strong determination and will that was inspiring to anyone that knew her story. For these reasons and many more, her passing has left an ache and hole that will only be filled when her loved ones see her again in Heaven.

Vennie was born on June 11, 1941 to William "Bill" Rufus Clayton and Opie Duncan Clayton, both of whom preceded her in death. She's also survived by her loving sister, Dot Clayton Watson (Charles) of Raleigh, and loving, special caretakers Michaela Huff and Heather Taylor of Roxboro, Melissa Oxendine of Maxton, Victoria Locklear of Pembroke, and Pauline Blanks of Red Springs.

Services will be held at Surl Primative Baptist Church in Timberlake officiated by Elder David Minter on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The visitation will begin at 1 o'clock with services immediately following at 2 o'clock.

The family will take visitors at the home of Vennie located at 426 Virgilina Rd, Roxboro, NC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Vennie to Surl Primative Baptist Church.
