Wilbur Myrick Obituary

Mr. Wilbur Edward Myrick, Sr., 95, of Weldon, died Thursday, September 8, 2005.
He was born on October 27, 1909 to Henchie Dallas Myrick and Lottie Robertson Myrick. He was a longtime merchant in Weldon, operating Pender Grocery before opening Myrick Grocery. He later managed the commissary at Coastal Lumber Company. He was a charter member of the Weldon Lion's Club and an active member of Weldon United Methodist Church.
His wife, Hazel Martin Myrick, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, W.E. (Ed) Myrick, Jr. and wife, Sue of Charlotte, N.C. and D.Graham Myrick and wife, Vickey, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; five grandchildren, Mia and her husband, Dale Alderman of Charlotte, N.C., Miesa Myrick of Frederick, MD, Alex Myrick of Charlotte, N.C. and Susan Ferguson and husband, Mike of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Catherine Mitchell and husband, James of Sanford, N.C.; seven great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Dora Alice Stegall of Warren Plains, N.C.; and a brother, T.R. (Rob) Myrick of Roanoke Rapids.
Askew Funeral services in Roanoke Rapids is handling arrangements where visitation will be 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 11 at 3:00 at Weldon United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
