William Bright Obituary
William H. Bright III, 68, of Raleigh died onThursday May 25, 2006 at his home with his wife by his side. Bill was born on December 17, 1937 in Washington, DC to the lateWilliam H. Bright, Jr. and Ava Frances Anderson Bright.
Bill earned two degrees from the University of Maryland, a B.A.in Business Administration at College Park and a J.D. from the School of Law in Baltimore. He was a member of the Bars of Montana and Maryland.
Bill had a long career as a Certified Financial Planner. His talents took him into sales of financialproducts and services, including investments and insurance, planning and management, private banking and wealth management. He served as the President and CEO of the Michigan State University subsidiary for the creation and management of a corporate research park. He also served as Regional VP for Sales and Marketing for a national financial services firm and of PEBSCO, Area Sales and Marketing Manager for Planned Equity Corp. Most recently, Bill was employed by Capital Investments Inc. in Raleigh. His prior employer was The Fidelity Bank in Cary.
An avid fisherman, skier, golfer, pilot and scuba diver, Bill lovedthe outdoors and all the creatures in it. He enjoyed living in the West because of activities in its mountains and streams, but also because he shared its ethos of independence, strength, and helpfulness. After moving to North Carolina 10 years ago, Bill also found much scope for outdoor activities, in good weather, while enjoying its Southern friendliness.
Bill was dedicated in his care and affection for animals, especially his pet dogs. In addition to adopting two rescue dogs recently, Billsupported pet rescue and services.
Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary Elizabeth Kurz Bright of Cary; his sister, Mary Nichols and brother-in-law, Donny Nichols of Silver Springs, MD; his sister, Clara Betterton of Madison Heights, VA; his two nieces, Karen Nichols and Tracy Scholl.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband and brother and will be missedgreatly by his family and friends.
Memorial donations in Bill's honor may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's St. 4th floor Raleigh, NC 27605.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 1 p.m. with a funeralservice to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave. 783-7128.
