William L. Roberts

William Larry Roberts, 77, of McGee’s Crossroads, died Dec. 25, 2010 at his home after a three-month-long bout with lung cancer. He was a retired Greyhound bus driver, farmer and former owner of a used car sales business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Roberts grew up on a farm in western Johnston County, the oldest boy in a family of four sisters and four brothers, one of whom died at age two. His parents were Rufus Calvin and Mae Belle S. Roberts, both of whom are deceased.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church, 640 Greenleaf Rd. Angier. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In addition to his much-beloved wife, Faye, of 56 years, he is survived by three children, Chris Roberts of the home, Suzette Rodriguez and husband, Mike and Burt Roberts and wife, Melynda all of McGee’s Crossroads; a grandson, Hudson Roberts; sisters, Daphne Noles of Willow Spring, Mamie Johnson of Benson, Margie Lee of Four Oaks and Judy Parrish of Angier; brothers, Atlee Roberts of Willow Spring, Laeron Roberts of Fuquay-Varina and Bennie Roberts of Benson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Angier and at other times at the home.
