Lost her battle with cancer, on April 29th, 2013 exactly two months before her 80th birthday. Her husband, Reynolds Yater, her children, Stace Yater-Wallace of Aspen CO, Lauran Yater of Santa Barbara, Susan Hurley of Thousand Oaks, CA, her grandkids, Travis, Lucas and Jesse Hurley, Saren and Torin Yater-Wallace, and her sister, Susan Moore, of Los Angeles, survive her.
Sally was the proud owner of "The Bikini Factory", (which only recently passed on to her longtime manager, Linda Meyer). She moved to Santa Barbara, shortly after getting married in Laguna, and not long after that, started the "Bikini Factory", in the early 60's. There was a need for custom made trunks and swimsuits, and she was an expert seamstress. She was a pioneer in the world of business, as a female business owner.
Sally was born in Philadelphia, to Russell and Gladys Hedeen. They lived in Cincinnati, San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, before she met Renny in Laguna, and married him is 1954.
She always loved to road trip, whether with family, or friends. She traveled to Mexico, Central America, Europe, Canada, Hawaii, Samoa, and all over the United States!
She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all!
A picnic, to celebrate her life, will be held at Lower Manning Park, in Montecito, Sunday July 14th 2:00-6:00PM. Please bring a dish of any sort, and join us, RSVP @ 970-456-5992
In her memory, if you feel so inclined, donations can be made to " Serenity House of Santa Barbara"
