Earl Lynch Obituary

Earl Lynch, age 86, of 949 Park Circle, died Friday, July 13, 2007, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Scranton Cemetery in Scranton with military honors conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.
Earl was born on September 2, 1920, in Des Moines, the son of James and Anna (Holden) Lynch. He graduated from Scranton High School in 1937 and graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He served with the United States Army during World War II and served in France. Earl married Catherine Patricia Brierty in Boone on September 1, 1949. For 38 years, he was employed by Fareway Stores Inc., first as an accountant and later secretary-treasurer, retiring December 31, 1985. Earl was a member of the Knights of Columbus Leo Council #814, American Legion #56, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars #817. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking (especially making children's furniture), fishing, and playing golf.
Earl is survived by his wife, Pat of Boone; a son, Robert Lynch of Boone; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jerry Ames of Boone; and four grandchildren, Anthony Ames and Jerod Ames and wife, Candice, all of Boone, Spc. Kevin Ames and wife, Karla, of Ft. Lewis, Washington, and Erin Gorton and husband, Andrew of Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Charles.
Friends may call Monday at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall from noon until 9:00 p.m. where a Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. and the family will be present from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Tuesday at the funeral chapel from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the Church of the Sacred Heart.

I only worked Prn at Eastern Star, but Earl was one of my fav persons. I wish his family well.

Even though I only met Earl a few times I know he was very well respected both at work and in the community. As a cousin of Pat's I wish our families had lived closer so we could have gotten to know each other better.
